White Cloud Mountain Minnow (Tanichthys albonubes)

The White Cloud Mountain Minnow is a small, peaceful and active fish which is undemanding and will do well in most community aquariums. To provide ideal conditions, the aquarium should contain areas of vegetation, with open swimming areas and if possible, a dark substrate and/or some surface cover. White Clouds are temperate fish and will prefer cooler temperatures in the 18-22C range, although they will also do well outside this range. Keep in groups with other peaceful species.
The hardy nature of these fish has led to cases of abuse which are still occasionally seen. Typical examples are tiny ‘cube’ tanks measuring less than 20cm with little or no filtration. Keeping these fish in an environment like this must be considered cruel and should be protested against whenever possible.
