Making Delicious Steaming Mocha Cocoa Coffee Without Sugar

Before we talk about how to sweeten coffee without sugar it’s good to know if we need to:

  1. Make coffee taste sweeter without adding anything.
  2. Find an alternative to sugar.

Both are possible and you will find good advice here.

  • There are so many options for ditching the sugar in your coffee (and different reasons to do so) so we’ll break this down into five specific sections.
  • Alternatives to natural sugar:
honey, maple syrup, agave and coconut sugar…
  • Sweet with things that are not sweet:
    Prefer healthy fats and spices
  • Artificial Coffee Sweetener:
I guess these have a place, but I’m not a huge fan.
  • Selection of coffee beans:
Choosing the right variety and roasting it properly enhances the flavor, so you may not even need the sweetener.
  • Brewing method:
Create a more interesting mug of coffee without adding anything.

Four Healthy Ways to Sweeten Your Coffee Without Sugar

Coffee offers a lot of health benefits, like lowering the risk of diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease, but if you add a lot of cream and sugar to your coffee, some of those advantages will be lost and your waistline will suffer.

  • Vanilla extract: If you are a fan of vanilla lattes, try adding a few drops of vanilla extract as a sugar substitute. A serving of vanilla syrup typically has 20 grammes of sugar, but vanilla extract has none.
  • Cinnamon: A popular spice cupboard staple, cinnamon lowers blood pressure and blood sugar levels, among its many other health advantages. A dash of cinnamon added to coffee will give it a cozy flavour.
  • Salt It sounds ludicrous, but adding a pinch of salt to your coffee can decrease the bitterness. Try it and be surprised!
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder: This will take out the bitterness and elevate the flavour to a whole new level if you enjoy chocolate. Try blending a small amount of this powder into your morning cup.
