Ham Cheddar Cranberry Melt Sandwich

Best grilled cheese sandwich ever! In honour of National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day, this was created (on April 12th). You'll doubt your next grilled cheese sandwich after creating one with garlic butter, hot or mild giardiniera, spinach, tomatoes, and 4 different varieties of Italian cheese!
Ham Cheddar Cranberry Melt Sandwich

This was made on April 12 in commemoration of National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day. After making one with garlic butter, hot or mild giardiniera, spinach, tomatoes, and four types of Italian cheeses, you will not be able to make another one!

Ingredients

  • Eight pieces of your preferred bread
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 8 tablespoons coarse-grained mustard
  • 1 ¼ pounds Smithfield Ham slices
  • ¾ pound white Cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 1 cup of cranberry sauce made from whole berries
  • 3 cups assorted salad greens

Directions

Heat a heavy skillet over medium-low heat. Butter two slices of bread, then turn them inside out. Flip the bread slices over in the pan, add the bread slices, and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese starts to melt and the bread is lightly toasted. Top each slice with 3 ounces of cheese and 5 ounces of ham. Take half of the bread out of the pan and place it on a cutting board. Repeat with the remaining bread slices.

The sandwich is completed by adding the cheese side of the bread, greens, and cranberry sauce to the side of the ham. To serve, cut the dish in half. It is best when it’s hot and melted!
