Egg-fish Goldfish

The egg fish goldfish is a fancy goldfish breed which lacks a dorsal fin and has a pronounced egg-shaped body.

The phoenix is a Chinese variety with an egg-shaped body and a long tail, without a dorsal fin and no headgrowth. It comes in all shades of color and scale types. The most seen color is blue, which it is named, the blue egg phoenix.

The Maruko is also a Chinese variety, as so named because they lack wen on face and body shaped like a lionhead goldfish with a slanted or straight back posterior and triangular tail fins. These fish are believed to be a precursor of the Ranchu, Lionheads, phoenix eggfish, and the rare national treasure of Japan, the Izumo nankin goldfish.
