Pre filters have always been a problem, the bio side of things have been ok for a long time. I want to extend the cleaning time of the pre filters to about two weeks, at the moment I wash the polyester mats out every day it can extend to two or three depending on the sun and temp. The summer is now here, I’m on top of the algae problem but i’ts time for a change.
I could make this style of filter bigger but I do like the way that sand and gravel can be cleaned, a lot less messy.
I will be easy to convert the drums just need to add a new cleaning overflow and a centre stand pipe for the air.
Having problems with cloudy water
We also have a problem with the local village water being cloudy it comes from the mountain unfiltered, this provides water for the trickle overflow, this will solve the problems of cloudy water in a number of the tanks.
